I was catching up on missed posts at DogHouse Diaries (via Facebook) when I ran into a link they posted to a cognitive sciences blog. Sadly, though they’d had a good five-year run with the blog, they moved on to other things in January of this year.
Best wishes to them, I just wish I’d found the place while it was still “buzzing”…
braincrew.net was founded in 2010 by Henry Postulart. Our primary mission is to make the web as accessible as possible for those with cognitive disabilities. In 2008, Henry experienced a heart attack when his coronary artery was suddenly blocked by a blood clot. As a result of this event, his heart stopped beating for about an hour. The long term effects of this incident are still being evaluated, but there has definitely been some brain damage incurred.
It’s Henry’s belief that his experience and circumstances offer a unique opportunity to provide the cognitively-disabled community with a fundamentally better web experience.
As this site evolves, it will serve as a showcase for the methods and technologies that will be required to achieve that goal.
